Join us for a unique chess tournament featuring the newly designed Shahi chess pieces, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the World Chess Federation.
This event is part of a Massachusetts Cultural Council supported STARS residency project with Boston Public Schools. FIDE Master, FIDE Trainer, and FIDE School Instructor Tamer Karatekin will join the event as a guest speaker.
Who Can Attend: The tournament is open to all children and youth, whether or not you attend Boston Public Schools. It's beginner-friendly—even if it's your first tournament!
Special Rounds: Two rounds will be played under ancient shatranj rules. Instructions will be provided before these rounds, and players are allowed up to three illegal moves. See the Wikipedia article for more information.
Doors open at 10:00am, with a welcome speech at 10:30am. Round 1 begins at 11:00am. The event is expected to end at 5:00pm.
